Speed Enforcement, Community Speed Watch and Community Voice Survey

As part of our Road Safety priority, we often link in with our colleagues in CREST (Causality Reduction Enforcement Support Team) and make when aware of certain roads which have been highlighted by you, the community.

With in this mind, officers from CREST conducted speed enforcement checks yesterday at the following locations and found that 14 motorists were captured speeding on the A625 Froggatt Stretch and 8 motorists also caught speeding on Calver Road in Baslow.

When you have highlighted roads in a community to the Safer Neighbourhood Team, we and Community Speed Watch coordinators who are based at Headquarters within CREST, have worked together with community members to set up “Community Speed Watch Schemes” so members of the community can be trained to conduct speed checks in their area.

We value the work, time given and input of Community Speedwatch Volunteers as their work provides useful data which can be used by trained officers to carry out speed enforcement at sites identified by Community Speedwatch volunteers or the use of speed strips, which are placed across the road to supply data on the number and speed of vehicles using the road.
